I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Robbo’s passing. As one of his classmates at Moseley Grammar School from 1971, I enjoyed his huge smile, irrepressibly cheeky humour and friendship. I remember him as a physically strong, tough lad, a highly talented sportsman and deep down, a gentle soul with a good heart. We played rugby together (in the centre) and went on scout camp including the 2-week trip to Germany and Austria as well as to the Forest of Dean (as school pals). He was always smiling and making us laugh. I recall his incredible musicianship on the piano accordian that livened up Music class at Moseley Grammar (particularly with the theme from The Persuaders) and the time he took over from a young accordionist in the Globe Pub in the Forest of Dean – it blew everyone’s mind and earned us all free drinks!. Robbo was a born entertainer and taken from us far too early – I’ve no doubt he’s busy entertaining everyone in heaven. Even though I hadn’t seen Robbo for many years, I will never forget our dear schoolmate and one of the gang! God bless and Rest in Peace mate.

So sorry to hear about Robos passing. What a shock! I remember many fun evenings in the bulls head with him. He was so comfortable to be with. I also recall him giving me a sports massage. I made such a fuss he couldn’t stop laughing. God bless you Robo and keep you safe. Xxxx

Good bye and God Bless you Robo, I’m so very sorry to hear that I have lost my friend of over 40 years – I have so many happy memories spent with you and Paul Jeffcott (also taken far too early) and the Gang at both the Horseshoes and Bulls Head in Hall Green – you were so much fun, so kind and such a talented person, we will all miss you so much. The song that reminds me of you and always will, was of course written by David Bowie is “All The Young Dudes” sung by Mott The Hoople – My thoughts are with you and your family – Much Love your friend Bobbie xx

I also knew Robbo from Moseley Grammar, was part of that group of lads who grew up together in Hall Green affectionately known as the ‘Waitrose mob’ as we always met there to play football in the rear car park, discuss music and if lucky boast about our love lives. He was a
gentle giant, a true sportsman and boy did he love his music especially
    Roxy and Bowie.
However the most endearing memory for me was his ability to make people laugh whenever he met them, a smile, a great story to tell and above all his presence, he would light up your day.
A great loss taken far to early.

    Rest in peace ‘star man’

i met Robbo in the quad on the very first day of term at Moseley Grammar. He stood out from the crowd and my impression of him never changed from that day on – always full of enthusiasm and humour. I honestly do not remember having a conversation with him where he was not smiling or laughing. We developed and shared a love of the same bands and saw lots of them together – he introduced me to Bowie at 12. I met up with him here in Copenhagen when he was on tour and had the pleasure of seeing him perform.A truly sad loss.

Robo and I first teamed up 52 years ago at Hall Green Junior School. We both then moved on to MGS and after leaving worked for the same company for a while.
We holidayed together , Austria with the scouts, camping in the UK an Spain with lads from the Bulls Head.
There are so many memories you cannot take away.

    RIP my old mate.

I vividly remember “Robo” from school days at Moseley Grammar School. We were classmates. He was really easy to get to know and an extraordinarily talented athlete and musician. His constant exuberance was utterly infectious, a refreshing antidote to the staid culture of Grammar School. I marvelled at his elusive running as a rugby player. I still wonder how my great friend David Thorne managed to keep pace with Cimo’s speed and rampant running. Their shared athleticism is a constant source of admiration for me. After school, I lost track of RC. I knew that he was pressing forward with his music career, which was his passion. If I could see him again, I would thank him for being a beacon of optimism and enthusiasm in my life, against significant odds. He was also a good looking horse, of course. Rest now Prince Roberto. Thank you for your legacy. It will not be forgotten.
Goodbye Mate, it is a privilege to have known You. Love always, glen.

Always a shock when someone of your own generation passes. Our families were friends but I didn’t really get to meet Robbo until I joined the Scouts. Even at that tender age Robbo’s larger than life personality shone through. He was a joy to be around.

I also remember Robbo from the times spent drinking in the Horseshoes & The Bulls Head he was always a true gent and as others have said always had a story to tell. Although our lives moved in different directions I did have the pleasure to meet Robbo again a few years ago in the Bulls Head and he hadn’t changed we had a lovely conversation. I was very shocked and saddened to hear of his passing my thoughts are with all his friends & family. Taken far too soon RIP Robbo xx

I was very sad to her that Robbo had passed away. We first met in class 1X at Moseley Grammar School, and he quickly established himself as a strong character, keeping everyone amused with his comedy antics. We also had lots of fun in the 219th Hall Green Scouts, and he gave us all lots of laughs on our camping trips. His musical talent was clear from early on, and seeing his virtuoso performances on the piano accordion at school were mind blowing. Years later it was wonderful to see him on Top of the Pops! He was also a natural sportsman, playing rugby and basket ball to a great standard at school.

I’ll always treasure the memories of time spent with Robbo, at school, in the Scouts and at the Bull’s Head, he was a pleasure to be with. That big smile on his face will always stay with me. RIP Robbo X

Like everyone else who knew Robbo, I was saddened to hear of his passing. I can only reiterate what has already been said by his ex MGS mates in the previous posts. Many by lads I haven’t seen for years since I moved out of the Hall Green area in 2001. As I was in the year above, I didn’t really get to know Robbo properly until around the 3rd/4th Year at school. He was a great sportsman and that’s why I really began to notice him more. It was after we’d all left MGS that I got to know him a lot better. We played a lot of football together and then when his musical career started to take off we followed him around various parts of the country watching his gigs. I even persuaded a few of my scouse mates to come down to one of his gigs when he played in Liverpool one night. They know their music up there and they were impressed! Like ST mentioned we were all so proud of him when he appeared on TOTP. I never heard anyone say a bad word about Robbo and that sums him up, a truly nice lad. I hope to see a lot of old friends on Friday so that we can give him the send off that he deserves. RIP Robbo.

The full back has to clear the danger and hoofs the ball in Robbo’s general direction. He wins the aerial battle, lays the ball back to the midfield and starts his run forward. The ball is worked out to the winger who splits the defence with a lovely through ball leaving the marauding Robbo with a run on goal. He takes a touch and at full speed barges the last defender out of the way, elbows flying, shoulder leaning, and leaves him sprawled in the mud. The hapless keeper advances but barely makes it to the six yard box as Robbo crashes the ball into the top corner without breaking stride. He trots back to the centre circle with a massive grin all over his face as if to say “what a laugh”.

So sad and shocked to hear the news of Robbo from Beefy. I remember football behind Waitrose and later with BRFC and him being a talented natural goal scorer who always played with a smile. Always had a story to tell and time for anyone to chat. Will meet some old faces from the past and tell some good stories and remember good times of the 70s80s and raise a glass to Robbo Cimarosti. Cheers

A talented musician and great for a sing a long All the Young Dudes and Robbo’s favorite Heroes by Bowie which he loved. I haven’t seen Robbo since 1981 and am really sad that I will never get to see him now. Everyone can you do me a favor and sing Heroes at the drinks after sorry I cant be there. What can I say about Robbo that hasn’t been mentioned already? I have loads of happy memories of Robbo but if i had to say one its the day we all hired a coach from the Bulls Head to go to Bournemouth for the day on a Bank Holiday. Having sat on the coach for at least 2/3 hours we arrived and the driver dropped us all off in the town centre. We then found a pub-with a piano and spent the whole day in there drinking & singing to Robbo’s long list of songs. We all had such a good day & laugh and I honestly don’t remember settling foot out of the pub until it was time to get the coach back. Always a smile & happy, big shock to hear the news.
    RIP Robbo

I met Roberto in the late 60s at Hall Green Junior, you know you have a talent around you when he got the dinner que humming to The guns of Navarone.
Yes he was good at sport and he brought his Piano Accordian to School and ordered the Class to clap along to Obla De Obla Da, then he did an encore.
I have a busy job and to attend a funeral for somone i last saw in the 1970s says it all, Roberto joined Hall Green School Juniors half way, meaning his family probably moved and he relocated School, he along with two other movers were dumped in the C Stream, 1960s management, he quickly rose to better.
He did have a way about him,I didn`t need to go today, but i did out of respect for a Man i know at Junior School.Sleep well Roberto, you were very loved.
