Arrangements for the funeral service of Sharon Smith

The service will take place on Monday, 28th October 2024 at 3.30pm
Chesterfield Crematorium – Chesterfield Rd, Chesterfield S43 1AU
Sharon’s farewell gathering will be held at Chesterfield Crematorium and all those who knew and loved her are welcome to attend. The family would prefer it not to be a sad affair but one that celebrates Sharon and everything that she meant to us all. If the inclination takes you, please feel free to wear bright colours or flowery outfits. If you have flowers remaining in your garden, (we know it’s almost the end of the season), or you’d like to buy a stem please bring it along to place on the coffin or wear it in your hair!
After the crematorium service we will be heading to The Peacock at Cutthorpe, School Hill, Main Rd, Cutthorpe, Chesterfield S42 7AS, to raise a glass to her and hopefully share fond memories and recollections of the good times that we associate with Sharon.
You will find details for Chesterfield Crematorium, The Peacock, dress code, and information regarding making a donation in Sharon’s memory in the sections below.
RSVP
To help manage catering, Sharon’s sisters would appreciate it if you could let them know if you will be attending the funeral in the form below as soon as possible.
Tributes and memories
We’d like you to dig through your archives and find a photo of Sharon which was a happy time or memory together, or just something that sums her up. Please bring it with you on the day so we can create a memory board.
Please accompany it with a short sentence explaining the relevance of the photo, the memory, or just something about Shaz. We will all miss her dearly so please, if you can, keep your words about happier times and memories.
Please share this link with anyone who may wish to know about the funeral, and don’t forget to RSVP below.

If you are attending this funeral and would like to find out more about what we do, and what you might experience our ‘About Us’ page is a great place to start.
So very sorry I can’t make her funeral.
Hi Dudley This is Mel Sharon’s sister. I have my Eulogy and order of service from the funeral if you would like them also some photos (I know this is not for everyone).
I shared a brief time with Sharon, working together in Frankfurt. What a character she was, dedicated, clever, conciencious and a right bloody laugh! Days flew by working with Sharon and the nights were not much different once the drinks started flowing there was no stopping her!
She will be missed by so many, but remembered very fondly.
RiP Shaz, and condolences to the family.
Dave

Words cannot express ,Sharon and I first met in Bristol whilst studying Avionics systems at Brunel school of Aeronautics, we were house mates and shared some very good times , in many ways Sharon was and still is a person I truly admired . A friend and more than that a true Aviator , so now you belong to the sky , we’re aviators smile the most , shine on and wherever the heavens take you , just know you were loved and will always will be , your fellow aviator Stuart x
Hi Stuart! Kemble here. Gosh I often think about you. Our days in Brunel. Wonderful times. You and Saskia moved on. Sharon and I were house mates for the next two years. Two very special years. She was such a fantastic friend. Going to say good bye tomorrow. It’s so sad such a funny wonderful person has been taken from us so early 🙁

Sharon, I will always remember you with a smile, I will miss our chats about putting the world to rights, you are a superstar, a lovely person and a talented Avionics engineer, and probably one of the first women to step in to the world of Aviation and every time I pick up a guitar or see a lefty guitar I will smile and think of you xxx RIP Shaz, Gone but never forgotten xxx
Thank you Darren, I will be in touch x
I have only just heard the sad news & so sorry I can’t make the funeral – sending much love to all the family. I met Sharon while doing my a’levels at Chesterfield Tech as it was known back in the day & remained close friends for years until life took us in different directions. I have very fond memories of the times spent in Cutthorpe, the numerous times I stopped over & was looked after by Freda & Harry. It’s always with a huge smile that I think back to those times – it was all fun & laughter. We did a parachute jump for Save the Children way before h&s was that important – wonder if that was what got her into aviation ? Also a three legged pub crawl around Chesterfield wearing pyjamas was a night to remember. I’m sure I will have some photos of the escapades if you would like them Melanie & Carolyn ?
Big hugs to all
Sue xx
Hi Sue Thank you so much for your comments, I’m pretty sure it was the parachute jump that started her interest in avionics as soon after she learned to fly light aircraft. I would love any photos that you may have. I also have the tribute I did for her at the funeral and oos if you would like it, xxx Mel
I was also a bridesmaid at David & Gill’s wedding.
Nice to meet you after all this time! Mel
