From the Family…….
Matt, our dear son, died on April 1st. He had struggled with mental illness for some years but, when in control, remained the active, energetic person we had always cherished. We and his sisters and grandmother Marjorie, are deeply touched by the many messages of support and sympathy sent from friends, family and those who knew him as a runner, football fan, film and music devotee, gifted cook, photographer and political organiser. The family loved him very much; he always remained a vital part of our lives together. We are touched by the affection and remembrance of so many others who knew him. Rest in peace Matt.

I was so shocked and saddend to hear the news about Matt. We were very good friends at school and shared lots of laughs along the way. We lived 2 doors down from each other in Telford and spent a lot of time together. My thoughts are with you all. Lots of love x x
I am so very sorry for your loss. I have only known Matthew for a couple of years, and spent time with him campaigning during the local elections in 2018. I remember him as hard-working, methodical, a great organiser, and dedicated whatever the weather! Wish I could have known him better. Love you all. He is at peace now.xx
I found Matt a very kind and helpful person. During the elections in 2018 he was always polite and knowledgeable whilst door knock in both Billesley and Highters Heath. A joy to have met and known. Would like to reiterate what Katherine has said and wish I could have known him better. At piece now. . xx
It was a pleasure to know Matt, I always enjoyed his company and appreciated his humour and professionalism when out campaigning. Rest in peace Matt.
Sending all our sympathy to matts family, we knew Matt from primary school until the family moved to Birmingham, my sons were very fond of Matt he was a bundle of energy and always smiling, we lived around the corner and Matt was a very popular part of the group of boys that hung out together. There are many happy memories of Matt for us as a family as I am sure there are for anyone who knew him along the way. Rest in peace Matt.
Super Mario World on the snes, tag team starfox, dual keyboard double dragon and being your R2 on X-wing star fighter. Not to mention Bull chase, werewolves of London and a ever-ready minion when it came to irritating the girls. I’ll miss you cus.
I re member coming to stay with the whole family when I was a youngish girl and Matt was a little boy. I came with Auntie Maud. You made us very welcome and I remember us all going on a walk…I think to the Wrekin.
Special memories. I always heard from my own mum having talked to her sister (Matt’s grannie) about family events and news. My love to you all.
He had an eye ;
For adventure,
What was cool,
To frame a picture, to plate a dish.
To notice detail.
He had a look ;
I’m up to mischief,
Tall and handsome,
Thoughtful and searching.
Dark and combative
He had a smile ;
Engaging,
Enticing,
Edgy,
Enigmatic.
RIP Matt
Sue and Phil (and the rest of the family), I am so so sorry. I would have been there today if I could. I’ve sent a letter with Dave so hopefully that’s okay. I’ll be thinking of you all very much. Kate xxxx
