Arrangements for the funeral of Elizabeth Walsh – ‘Beth’

Jennifer Sykes

Wednesday 28th August 2024

Westall Park Natural Burial Ground

Anyone who knew Beth would know that hers would be far from the average funeral. Whilst loving nature and having pagan beliefs, she also cherished her childhood Christian connections and so Beth’s farewell will take place across two different locations and on two separate dates.

Wednesday 28th August – 12 noon
Beth will be buried at Westall Park, a beautiful natural burial ground with views across to the Hills of Abberley, where Phil and Beth (and Alfie) stayed after getting married.

Before she is laid to rest however, a ‘mini festival’ is planned in her honour. The event will take place across 2-3 hours and will include an official ceremony, food, music and of course a few stories about her life.

Please bring:

  • Please bring along a camping chair and blanket/rug – and a brolly in case of showers.
  • Folk are bringing food to share; so please e-mail Bev on bevfbevan@gmail.comwith details of the particular dish you’re happy to contribute!
  • Drinks will be provided – but you might want to bring along some water for yourself.

Procession:

  • People will be walking in procession before the hearse as it drives Beth to the Woodland Pagoda for the formal ceremony.
  •  If you’d like to join the procession, please assemble at the entrance to the Festival Field by 11.45am where Withies will be distributed.
  • Just ask – and you’ll be guided to the spot

Rose Petals

  • When Beth is lowered, her family would really like her to be lying on a bed of rose petals.
  • So, if you are able to, can you each please bring a handful of roses so we can strip the petals and then place them in the grave as we precede her casket to its final resting placeafter the formal ceremony.

Beth will arrive at midday so please ensure you are here from 11.30 onwards.

THE BUS DETAILS

If you are coming on the bus Beth’s family are providing, here are the details:

  • Departure for Burial Ground: Bus will leave Croft Road Car Park Worcester at 10:45 a.m.
  • Pick-up from Burial Ground: Bus will leave Westall Park at 3:00 p.m.

Westall Park Information

When you arrive please drive all the way down the long drive to find the car park. If you need the toilets however, these are by the office by the park entrance so please go before driving further into the park.

Westall Park is one of the UK’s finest natural burial grounds and aims to create a place that people will want to visit, not out of a sense of duty, but from the pleasure and peace of mind it can evoke. Westall Park has created an eco-friendly cemetery as a place for quiet reflection in an informal setting amongst trees, wild flowers and wildlife. Eventually it will become a woodland glade, full of nature where all wildlife is encouraged to thrive.

As a family we have known and loved Beth for over 15 years , enjoyed many happy memories through nursery and school for Alfie and Ryan , jenna volunteering at Cherry drama group and Worcester Theatre makers , being a test client for Beth’s holistic therapies , attending gigs and caring for Beth after her eye surgery. Andy even met her before I did back in the Bluemouth and Sugarfed days.
More recently she helped me with my pharmacology revision when I told her what all her meds did and how they worked.
We will miss you so much , dance forever in that big Glasto field in the sky .

No-one encapsulates the phrase “we are all made of stardust” better than Beth. A few months ago, we talked about her watching shooting stars while floating in her spa tub at night; I made sure to watch the Perseids in her memory. Miss you very much, you wonderful woman. xx

I am so very sorry not to be able to come and share in what I know will be a perfect day celebrating you and giving you a magical and such loved send off Beth. My heart will be there in spirit with you and your family.
Our paths crossed so many times over the years- you were an instant sparkle of fun and friendship and in more recent years I loved seeing you play with Low Red Moon. You live on as that joy, sparkle and enthusiasm in everyone you met and whose lives you touched.
Dance among the stars above Beth and keep an eye on us! Xxx
        Love Katy xxx ✨🌿✨

There are many wonderful memories over the years but one I always think of; I’d left my job with nothing to go to, and no idea of what was next. I met up with darling Beth and she hugged me so tight, as she does, then looked into my eyes and held my face with both hands and said “I’m so proud of you”. This is Beth, she made everyone she met feel special to their very core.

We are so sorry for your loss. Beth was such a wonderful creative lady, who made a big impression on our daughter. We remember how welcoming Beth was at the drama group when we first moved to Worcester and her running the cool “Gin Lane” interactive drama as part of the Victorian Christmas Market. We were so happy to see pics of you all together on Alfies’ recent year 11 prom night. I’m sure she was bursting with pride! Thinking of you all. Lyla is hoping to join you on Wednesday to remember your wonderful Mum Beth. Best wishes, Tanya, Dino, Lyla and all the Simpson family x

I didn’t know Beth really well. We met on an internet forum when I was trying for a baby and Beth remained an online contact for many years. She was the epitome of kindness and wisdom. And she was funny. Really funny. She frequently made me actually laugh out loud. Her approach to life was incredible. I will miss her.

Sorry I can’t be there to see off such a beautiful soul. Beth had a big voice and a bigger heart. It was an honour to be her band mate.

Sadly I can’t be with you all on Wednesday. I will be lighting a candle in celebration of beautiful Beth’s life.
I met her age 17yrs, I lived her from the moment we met, and even though our paths didn’t cross often, the love was always there. Beth was/is “love”. A pure bright light, that shone over everyone She knew.
May love & light be with you all, as her body is laid to rest. X
