Aunt Maria will always be remembered as the Aunt with a big and cheeky sense of humour. She always had great presence, and made a very handsome couple with my Uncle Brian. It’s always very sad when you see another member of the family passing and my heart goes out to David. Rest in Peace Maria.

Maria loved cooking. Growing up I enjoyed many tasty sunday afternoons at Maria and Brian´s. Maria had a great sense of humour and there was always lots of laughter around the dinner table. One of my fondest memories of Maria was when I was about nine or ten. I felt chuffed that she´d invited me to come round and bake my first ever cake with her, a fruit cake, it turned out delicious. There was never any home baking in our house when we were children so I remember it being a big deal for me. We had a lovely afternoon together in her kitchen. Also I´ll never forget loving those sunday evening excursions in summer up to the Mops and Brooms pub garden with Maria, Brian, David and our family. Sending you love Dave and thinking of you at this sad time.

What really came across to me when we visited Maria at her flat in Birmingham was just how brave and chipper she was . Her sense of humour was so strong, she had us in stitches about an adventure on her mobility scooter which went rather wrong, she became stranded in town and ended up hitching a ride with an ambulance to get home .
She had already suffered from quite a bit of ill health and several operations but she seemed up for a laugh and was such good company. I thought she handled her situation and old age with such grace and dignity. I know all her siblings and family will miss her greatly.

Maria being the youngest of 5 sometimes got away with things that we would not
When she was 16 she worked in accounting at a chemical company in boreham wood,at the time they were working on a self tanning solution and asked her if she would try it out on the weekend she was delighted, unfortunately she over did it and woke up next morning with patchy orange skin, she looked dreadful and could not go out.my mother asked her to peg two shirts on the line.our very old and quite nosy neighbour Mrs Wiley saw Maria and was quite shocked, have you been away dear, she said YES shouted Maria BAHAMAS! she then ran screaming with laughter back indoors. We were all hysterical except my mother but as she started to tell Maria off for being rude to a neighbour she turned away and I saw her styfelling a laugh
I always laugh when I think about it.
    I miss Maria very much.
