Tony Collinge

Tony CollingeArrangements for the funeral of George Anthony (Tony) Collinge

Friday 31st March at 1.30pm Cookhill Village Hall, Alcester

Family and friends are gathering at Cookhill Village Hall to acknowledge Tony’s death, and to celebrate his life.

A farewell ceremony will take place in the village hall, starting at 1.30pm. Please arrive from 1pm.

After the service, we shall travel in convoy a short distance from the village hall to Westall Park Natural Burial Ground, where a short, informal committal ceremony will take place around the grave.

There is parking on site at both the hall and the natural burial ground but we would encourage you all to car share as much as possible as spaces will be limited.

You are welcome to stay at the hall if you prefer not to attend the committal ceremony as tea and coffee will be served back in Cookhill Village Hall after the burial from around 3pm until 5pm.

Below you will find directions and further information about the day. Please feel free to send any messages to Tony’s wife and family via the comments area below.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Gill either via the comments area below or by contacting her directly.

Please share this link with anyone who may wish to know about the funeral.

We will aim to start the ceremony at 1.30pm. It would help Gill to know in advance if you would like to share your thoughts during the ceremony, although spontaneous contributions are also very welcome.

Westall Park is one of the UK’s finest natural burial grounds and aims to create a place which those who wish to remember their loved ones will want to visit, not out of a sense of duty, but from the pleasure and peace of mind it can evoke. Westall Park has created an eco-friendly cemetery as a place for quiet reflection in an informal setting amongst trees, wild flowers and wildlife. Eventually it will become a woodland glade, full of nature where all wildlife is encouraged to thrive.

Address: Holberrow Green, Nr Redditch, Worcestershire, B96 6JY

Westall Park can get muddy during the winter weather, so suitable footwear is advisable. Dress informally for comfort and warmth.

Tony loved flowers, so please feel free to bring flowers. However as his burial is taking place at a natural burial ground please ensure they do not have plastic packing or plastic bases.

If you would rather make a donation in memory of Tony we will be collecting on the day for a charity that his good friend Dutch is setting up called Invisible Friends. The charity aims to help young disabled people in music.

That will be lovely of you to come to the celebration of Tony’s life. Thank you so much. Yes it is very sad that Tony was taken so soon. I am devastated. We had planned to do a lot of things this coming summer and in the future. I look forward to meeting you. Best, Gill

Thank you, that will be lovely. We shall celebrate Tony’s life…. Thank you for your kind thoughts. I both prayed and meditated in the hospital chapel and Quiet Room. But I have yet to find a sense of peace. It is heartbreaking. I look forward to meeting you. Gill

Unfortunately, due to work commitments, I won’t be able to be there, but will be thinking on Tony on Friday. We shared a love of music and songsmithery, and worked together for a short period. He will be much missed.

Dear Ross, Sorry I did not reply sooner. . I quite understand…. But, thank you for this… It was a beautiful celebration of his life… We played Buttercup; We are (Beaver and Tony); Child of Innocence (Tony Collinge) and Stairway to Heaven… At the graveside, it was Dido’s lament…. When I am laid in Earth. Best, Gill
